Here’s the good news: creating content and incorporating video into your real estate marketing strategy for social media does not need to be complicated or expensive. You don’t need a professional videographer to connect with your target audience, build community, and nurture your relationships with your sphere of influence.

In 2024, it’s clear that video is a permanent fixture in marketing strategies, especially in real estate. While it may seem daunting to start using video, the truth is. it doesn’t have to be complicated or costly. You don’t need a professional videographer to connect with your audience, foster community, and strengthen relationships with your sphere of influence through social media videos.

Here are six easy ways to incorporate video into your real estate marketing strategy – without hiring a professional.

Take b-roll video when you’re doing real estate tasks.

Believe it or not, people are interested in the behind-the-scenes activities of your business. While your daily tasks might seem routine or dull to you, those unfamiliar with a realtor’s day-to-day operations want to see that your work involves more than just property showings.

Set up your phone to record yourself while staging a home or handling phone calls and emails. You can also show your audience how you update property listings or interact with clients. The more you showcase your process, the easier it will be for prospective clients to envision what it would be like to work with you.

Whenever you take a photo of something, take a quick video too.

Smartphones make it incredibly easy to record video and take pictures simultaneously, so there’s no reason not to do both. Even if you’re using a professional camera, it’s simple to pull out your phone and capture video afterward.

Commit to creating face-to-camera videos at least once a week.

Initially, it may feel intimidating but try to show your face on your IG stories or TikTok once a week. Don’t worry about perfection—your audience won’t mind the occasional “ums” or informalities.  The more you do it, the less awkward it will feel, and the more you’ll connect with your audience.

Set up your home or office to serve as a clean background.

Even if your entire home or office isn’t “camera ready,” find a small corner with neutral decor and good lighting. Instead of a plain white wall, choose a backdrop with minimal distractions that looks appealing. This will help your audience focus on your message rather than what’s happening in the background.

Start small when it comes to editing.

It’s easy to get caught up in fancy editing apps when jumping on the Reels or TikTok bandwagon. However, before you dive into the App Store for programs with all the bells and whistles, make sure to do your research.

Even if you are tech-savvy, video editing can be a whole new challenge. When starting out, stick with a simple and affordable (or free) program. For Apple users, iMovie is a great option as it’s free and supports both vertical and horizontal formats. Another excellent video editing app is InShot, which is free to download and offers additional features through a subscription. As you gain confidence in editing, you can gradually explore more advanced software

Batch create your video content.

Planning your content for the upcoming weeks? Consider batch-creating video content.  This approach saves you time in the long run and ensures a cohesive look and feel to your videos, helping you become more comfortable with the format more quickly.

To stay organized and easily access your videos for sharing, create an album in your phone’s camera roll with an easy-to-recognize title. This ensures you always have content ready to go!

Video confidence doesn’t require makeup, fancy lighting, extensive editing, or filters. It comes down to practice. When you exude confidence, you’ll create compelling videos that keep your audience engaged and informed. Consistency builds trust and loyalty with your viewers!
